Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan's Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry has announced plans to impose restrictions on the number of SIM cards registered under a single individual.
As part of efforts to combat fraudulent activities, the ministry has proposed a limit of up to 10 SIM cards per person.
"However, registration of additional SIM cards will be allowed if the user provides proof of necessity to the mobile operator," the ministry stated in response to an official inquiry from the editorial team.
Law enforcement agencies have also suggested expanding the registration methods for SIM cards, a proposal currently under discussion in the legislative working group.
The proposed amendments also include measures to curb the use of GSM gateways, which are frequently exploited for fraudulent activities.
"Additionally, the legislation will prohibit individuals from transferring their registered numbers to third parties without completing the official re-registration process," the ministry noted.
