Tengrinews.kz — Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev held a phone call with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi.
This was reported on Thursday, March 26, by the press service of Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry.
According to the ministry, the parties discussed the current situation in the Middle East and also exchanged views on topical issues of bilateral cooperation.
“During the conversation, Y. Kosherbayev expressed Kazakhstan’s concern to his Iranian counterpart over the situation around Iran and reaffirmed the Kazakh side’s readiness to provide a venue for peaceful negotiations in the city of Turkestan, as previously stated by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev,” the statement said.
In addition, the parties agreed to continue dialogue on current issues of bilateral relations.
As a reminder, on March 21, Tokayev paid a working visit to the Turkestan Region. Speaking to the public there, the Head of State noted that Kazakhstan does not seek the role of mediator in the difficult situation that has arisen in the Middle East, but is ready to provide its platform for peaceful negotiations. In his view, such a dialogue could be organized in Turkestan.
On March 22, the Akorda press service reported that the presidents of Kazakhstan and Iran had exchanged congratulatory messages. Telegrams from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed to the Head of State were received on the occasion of Oraza Ait and Nauryz. In his reply, Tokayev wished for stronger unity among the brotherly peoples and for stability to be established in the Middle East.
