Kazakhstan invited leading Hong Kong companies to develop “green” projects in Alatau City

Tengrinews.kz — Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev met with a delegation from Hong Kong companies Towngas and Full Vision Capital. The foreign delegation was led by Alan Chan, Managing Partner of Full Vision Capital and Executive Director and Chief Investment Officer of Towngas.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed prospects for implementing joint investment projects in green energy, sustainable aviation fuel, advanced energy storage systems, and the development of Alatau City.

Kanat Bozumbayev noted that Kazakhstan is consistently implementing its energy transition policy and is interested in attracting international investors and cutting-edge technologies. Alatau City was identified as a priority site for project localization, offering a special legal regime with stable conditions for investors, tax and customs preferences, and "one-stop-shop" project support.

The parties also discussed the prospects of introducing EnerVenue long-duration energy storage technologies in Kazakhstan, which could be in demand for ensuring reliable power supply to data centers and critical infrastructure. Furthermore, they reviewed opportunities for building a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production plant based on EcoCeres technology, as well as agricultural and waste processing initiatives.

Special attention was paid to developing renewable energy projects and implementing Towngas Smart Energy solutions, including rooftop solar power plants and intelligent energy systems. In this context, Alatau City is being considered as a pilot site for the comprehensive deployment of such technologies, with the potential to scale successful solutions across other regions of Kazakhstan.

Following the meeting, both parties confirmed their mutual interest in developing long-term cooperation and agreed to continue detailed work on the investment projects.

Notably, a Kazakh delegation led by Kanat Bozumbayev previously visited several cities in China to present the investment potential of Alatau City. During meetings with high-ranking officials and representatives of technology giants, discussions focused on investments, digital technologies, green energy, and the potential participation of Chinese companies in Alatau City projects. Meetings in Shenzhen resulted in investment agreements totaling $6 billion.
