Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has tasked the government with developing measures to modernize and digitalize trade in the country, including markets and local stores. He made this statement at a government meeting.
The Prime Minister noted that the quality of products on both foreign and domestic online platforms remains insufficiently guaranteed. Moreover, there is often a lack of information about the authenticity of goods, which "creates risks for both consumers and producers who face unfair competition."
Bektenov outlined several key tasks for the Ministry of Trade and Integration:
- Develop specific proposals and measures for the digitalization of all trade activities in Kazakhstan, including markets and small local stores.
- In cooperation with the ministries of justice and digital development, develop specific measures by the end of February to improve consumer rights protection in e-commerce. This work should focus on product quality, the protection of intellectual property, and the personal data of our citizens.
"By the end of March, the ministry, together with the relevant government bodies and the business community, must form effective supply chains for goods both within the country and internationally," Bektenov emphasized.
He also instructed, in collaboration with the "Digital Kazakhstan" association and other stakeholders, to develop additional state support measures for the development of e-commerce.
"A plan for the development of e-commerce until 2027 was previously adopted. However, it is already necessary to update it taking into account proposals from the domestic business community and the experience of working with marketplaces. This work must be completed by the end of March," Bektenov added.
The Prime Minister instructed the ministries of digitalization and trade to develop a plan for the development of the national postal operator within a month.
Earlier, the leadership of the Ministry of Trade and Integration proposed to reconsider the working conditions for foreign online stores.
