Kazakhstan fielded its candidate to the UN Human Rights Council

“Kazakhstan has fielded its candidate to the UN Human Rights Council for 2012-2015”, this was announced today by the country’s State Secretary Kanat Saudabayev in Geneva addressing the High Level Segment at the 16th session of the Council, quoted him Interfax-Kazakhstan as saying. According to Mr. Saudabayev, the nation is determined to actively cooperate with international human rights organizations and put to practice recommendations of the UN and human rights NGOs. Besides, Kazakhstan supports expanding the role of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). February 28, State Secretary Kanat Saudabayev had talks with OSCE Acting Chairman and Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronius Azubalis. They dwelt on situations in Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan. The parties decided to contribute to stabilizing the situations in these two countries on bilateral basis.
