Tengrinews.kz – The ban on exporting liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from Kazakhstan has been extended for another six months, according to the government’s press service.

Kazakhstan has extended the ban on the export of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by road and rail transport for another six months. The decision was made at a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Foreign Trade Issues, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin.

According to the government, the measure aims to ensure domestic demand and maintain price stability. Authorities emphasized that the decision is linked to the growing number of vehicles using liquefied gas as fuel and its high social importance.

At the meeting, the Commission also addressed other matters related to protecting the domestic market. On the initiative of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, a temporary permit procedure for the import of gaming machines for a period of six months was approved — only for organizations licensed to operate in the gambling industry.

The Commission also discussed the effectiveness of the export customs duty on sunflower seed exports. Over the three years of its enforcement, sunflower oil production in Kazakhstan has increased 2.5 times, exports have grown nearly fivefold, and domestic prices have stabilized.

The Agency for Protection and Development of Competition has been instructed to analyze the sunflower oil market and purchase prices from processors, after which the issue will be reconsidered at a future commission meeting.
