Tengrinews.kz - The 143rd meeting of the joint Kazakh-Russian Demarcation Commission was held in Almaty, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As reported, the parties discussed a range of issues related to the designation of the state border line in its various sections and approved the relevant draft final demarcation documents, as well as work schedules for the joint Kazakh-Russian Demarcation Commission and office work for 2025.
The commission's next meeting will be held in December 2024 on the territory of Russia.
Recall that in October 2022, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan reported that the demarcation of the state border with Russia could take "2-3 years."
"The land border between the Russian Federation and our country is more than 7.5 thousand kilometers long, 70% of which have been demarcated. Now the remaining 30% are in difficult mountainous terrain. Therefore, we expect that this will take another 2-3 years," said former Minister of Foreign Affairs Mukhtar Tleuberdi on the sidelines of the Senate.
Border demarcation is the drawing of a state border on the ground with its designation by special border signs. Border demarcation is carried out on the basis of border delimitation documents (agreement, description of the state border line with a special map attached) by joint commissions created on an equal basis.
Earlier, Russia introduced new entry rules. The procedure is set to start on December 1, 2024, at Moscow's airports, the Mashtakovo automotive checkpoint in the Orenburg region, and the Kazakhstan border.
