Kazakhstan and Russia agree on nuclear energy

Kazakh Ministry of Industry and New Technologies has signed an agreement with RosAtom, a Russian nuclear company, to cooperate in the peaceful use of nuclear energy, Tengrinews.kz reported. The program of Kazakh-Russian nuclear energy cooperation was signed by Vice-Mister of Industry and New Technologies Duisenbai Turganov and Director General of RosAtom Sergey Kiriyenko. This is the second step in the nuclear cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia, Kiriyenko said. “The first stage has been completed. Today we have signed a long-term program for further interaction. It involves in-depth cooperation in nuclear fuel cycle. We have extensive plans for natural uranium exploration and production in Kazakhstan. An uranium enrichment joint venture is also to be established,” said Director General of RosAtom.
