Tengrinews.kz – Delegations from Kazakhstan and China conducted a joint inspection at the "Nur Zholy" – "Khorgos" border checkpoints. The two sides agreed to increase border throughput, according to the press service of Kazakhstan’s State Revenue Committee (SRC).
The Kazakh delegation was led by SRC Chairman Zhandos Duysembiev, while the Chinese side was headed by Minister of the General Administration of Customs Sun Meijun. The visit took place as part of efforts to fulfill the President's instructions and resolve border congestion issues at the China entry point.

Key outcomes of the inspection:
- 24/7 operation at "Nur Zholy" – "Khorgos" extended until June 30, 2026;
- Vehicle capacity at "Nur Zholy" has reached 650 vehicles/day, and will increase to 750 from July, then 1,000 from September;
- At "Kalgat", flow increased from 130 to 250 vehicles/day, with a target of 300 by June;
- By end of May, a mobile inspection system will be launched at "Dulat", and a stationary system at "Khorgos" by end of September;
- Mutual recognition of X-ray images from inspection systems agreed;
- Plans to redistribute traffic through "Khorgos" to ease load at "Nur Zholy";
- Consideration underway to expand traffic lanes and the bridge at "Nur Zholy" – "Khorgos";
- Agreed to hold monthly meetings of border services and quarterly coordination sessions.

Minister Sun Meijun praised the infrastructure at "Nur Zholy" and highlighted the convenience of the electronic queue system.
According to SRC, border capacity with China rose from 202,000 vehicles in 2023 to 429,000, and to 734,000 in 2024. In the first four months of 2025, 238,500 vehicles have already crossed the border — a 41% increase.

The measures are expected to reduce queues and boost transit and bilateral trade volumes.
