Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan and Bulgaria have signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of asset recovery, according to the General Prosecutor's Office.
The memorandum was signed by the Asset Recovery Committee of the Prosecutor General's Office of Kazakhstan and the Commission for the Seizure of Illegally Acquired Property of the Republic of Bulgaria in Sofia.
"The parties expressed their intention to actively develop cooperation and outlined key aspects of collaboration, including the exchange of experience in the areas of search, identification, seizure, and recovery of assets," the statement said.
During the meeting, Bulgarian specialists presented their developments in asset identification and management related to corruption and other crimes. In turn, the Kazakh side shared its methods of asset recovery and demonstrated specific examples of using recovered funds for the country's development.
It is specified that the committee had previously also signed an agreement with the New Bulgarian University aimed at enhancing the qualifications of the department’s staff. During joint discussions, the parties considered prospects for cooperation in the field of law enforcement, including consultation and training based on scientific research.
