Tengrinews.kz — A young woman in Petropavlovsk smoked a cigarette she had found on the street and was later admitted to intensive care in serious condition.

According to the city’s multidisciplinary hospital, the patient was brought in with severe symptoms, including tremors, dizziness, and a growing sense of fear.

“According to the patient, she smoked a cigarette she found on the street. As a result, she developed narcotic intoxication and exogenous poisoning. She was diagnosed with the toxic effects of unspecified substances, intoxication syndrome, and moderate iron-deficiency anemia,” the hospital’s press service said.

Her condition quickly worsened. The on-duty therapist and intensive care specialist immediately stepped in to assess the risks. Without delay, she was hospitalized in the intensive care unit.

“The patient spent 24 hours under round-the-clock observation in intensive care. She then underwent another four days of treatment in the therapy department. Her condition was stabilized, and she was discharged home in satisfactory condition,” the hospital said.

Doctors stressed that using unknown or prohibited substances always carries serious risks.

“Even a single use can lead to severe poisoning, disruptions in heart and breathing function, panic, disorientation, loss of control, and life-threatening conditions. You cannot control the composition of the substance, and you cannot predict how the body will react. Sometimes the price of one wrong decision is too high,” the doctors warned.
