Tengrinews.kz - Minister of Labour and Social Protection Svetlana Zhakupova was asked about the possibility of reducing working hours for Kazakhstanis due to the time change.

According to the Minister of Labor, the current labor legislation allows for flexible working hours to be established between employers and employees.

"In this case, the question of reducing working hours does not arise. For example, if it is a 40-hour work week, 8 hours a day, the employee should work 5 days. However, shifting the working hours, including start and end times, is possible with the employer's agreement," Zhakupova stated.

Journalists also inquired whether the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection is prepared to review the working schedule for its employees.

"We have a flexible schedule for employees who need to consider personal circumstances, such as having young children. It is allowed to extend the working day by two hours or arrive later by an hour and a half. It is also possible to use the lunch break to shorten the working day. Employers implement such measures to create comfortable and safe working conditions," added the minister.

Recall that on September 6, Mazhilis deputies Maksat Tolykbayev, Rinat Zaitov, Nurtay Sabilyanov, Lukbek Tumashinov, and Samat Nurtaza recorded a video appeal to the citizens of Kazakhstan, proposing the return to the previous time zone in the country. The government promised to consider their proposal.
