Tengrinews.kz – A Kazakh citizen attempted to challenge the age limit for medical examination of conscripts, citing the Constitutional Court.
The man argued that the age limit of 27 set by regulations infringes on his right to freedom of labor, choice of profession, and type of activity, as guaranteed by Article 24 of the Constitution.
The Constitutional Court stated that this rule aligns with Article 31 of the law, which stipulates that citizens aged 18 to 27, who have no deferral or exemption, are subject to conscription for military service. Furthermore, the court pointed out that the applicant, based on his age, does not fall into the category of individuals eligible for conscription.
As a result, the Constitutional Court concluded that the contested provision does not affect the applicant's rights and freedoms. Following a preliminary review, his appeal was not accepted for constitutional proceedings.
