Kairat football club gets an English chief coach  New chief coach of Almaty F.C. Kairat John Charles Gregory.

English football expert John Charles Gregory became a new chief coach of Almaty Football Club Kairat, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the Club’s press-service. He signed a contract until 2013. The new coach’s objective is to build up a new team that will be able to achieve high scores in Kazakhstan’s Premier League. Gregory is famous in England for his coaching. He worked with such football clubs as Portsmouth, Plymouth Argyle, Wycombe Wanderers, Aston Villa, Derby County and Queens Park Rangers. In the last few years Gregory worked in Israel, where he coached Maccabi Ahi and F.C. Ashdod. While a football player himself he played in such clubs as Northampton Town, Aston Villa, Brighton and Hove Albion, Queens Park Rangers, Derby County, Plymouth Argyle and Bolton Wanderers. He played 598 matches and scored 83 goals. He played six games with the English national team (1983-1984). On June 14 Gregory was officially introduced to public as the chief coach of Almaty football club. Before Gregory the team was managed by Vladimir Nikitenko.
