Japan grants to Kazakhstan despite of tragedy

Despite of the tragedy Japan granted more than $260 thousand to Kazakhstan, a Tengrinews.kz journalist reports. Japan is demonstrating its will and courage, Ambassador of Japan in Kazakhstan said today in Astana, when granting gratuitous aid to people in need. Ambassador Yuzo Harada gave grant contracts to three Kazakhstan citizens representing public associations. The first contract worth more than $80 thousands is for procurement of agricultural equipment for forest planting around the receding Aral Sea. The second contract worth $100 thousand is for repair and reconstruction of Samal rehabilitation center’s building. The third contract worth more than $86 thousand is signed for repair of the hospital in Karaganda. Representatives of public associations who received the grants said that they felt uncomfortable taking the grants because as they had seen messages about Japanese tragedy. Japan had financed 53 Kazakh social projects totally worth almost $3.7 during the 13 years since creation of the Grass Root Fund of Japanese government. By Renat Tashkinbayev
