Tengrinews.kz - Moped registration is underway across the country, and many have raised the question of whether an additional category is needed if you already have a driver's license.
Starting from April 5, driving mopeds will only be possible with a category A1 driver's license, as mopeds are now classified as motor vehicles. However, as Deputy Ekaterina Smyshlyaeva explained, holders of category A, B, or C licenses will not need to obtain the A1 category.
Thus, holders of category A, B, or C driver's licenses will be able to drive mopeds without additional permits or endorsements on their licenses. This new rule eliminates the need to visit the public service centers (PSC) or the Ministry of Internal Affairs to obtain special permits.
