Kazakhstan Ministry of Internal Affairs said that 66 religious people registered in Astana are not suspected in crimes related to extremism, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports citing official representative of Kazakhstan Interior Ministry Nurdilda Oraz. “66 people were checked. These people are not suspected in crimes related to extremism. But they might be associated with other crimes,” the agency’s source said. Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that Astana police discovered over 200 adepts of religious extremism. 243 people related to extremism were arrested in Astana. 172 of them were registered into the database as persons that might commit crimes. 66 perople were registered as extremists then.
