Tengrinews.kz – Interpol has issued Kazakhstan’s first “Silver Notice” as part of a pilot project to implement a new tool for tracing and recovering assets.

According to the Committee for Asset Recovery of the General Prosecutor’s Office, this document provides the ability to obtain information about the assets of individuals who are in any way connected to entities covered by the Asset Recovery Law.

This will make it possible to track, identify, and obtain information on illegally acquired assets, including movable and immovable property, as well as financial resources.

Information about illegally acquired assets can now be exchanged among the 196 member states of Interpol. These include countries such as the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Qatar, China, Kuwait, Malta, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, the United States, France, Sweden, and others.

“If earlier Interpol mainly focused on recording information about wanted individuals, now attention is also given to assets that, if there are grounds, may be subject to various measures of prosecution worldwide,” the statement notes.

What other Interpol notices exist

Interpol uses a system of color-coded notices, each serving a specific purpose.

An Interpol notice is an international message transmitted by the police of one country through Interpol to other countries. It contains information about crimes, criminals, threats, missing persons, unidentified bodies, prison escapes, or methods of criminal activity.

Here is the full list of Interpol notices:

  • Red Notice – international search for a person and request for arrest/extradition;
  • Blue Notice – identification, location, or activities of a person;
  • Green Notice – warning about a person considered dangerous (e.g., a criminal who may operate in other countries);
  • Yellow Notice – search for missing persons and identification of people unable to identify themselves;
  • Black Notice – identification of unidentified bodies;
  • Orange Notice – warning about objects or events posing a threat (weapons, explosives, etc.);
  • Purple Notice – exchange of information on criminal methods, tools, and schemes (modus operandi);
  • Interpol–United Nations Security Council Special Notice – for individuals and organizations subject to UN Security Council sanctions.
