Tengrinews.kz – A major illegal migration channel has been shut down by police in Turkestan Region, where foreigners could enter Kazakhstan bypassing border checkpoints for a fee of 500,000 tenge, according to Polisia.kz.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), on September 11, four organizers and their accomplices involved in the illegal migration scheme were detained and placed in a temporary detention facility in Turkestan Region.
“The detainees are suspected of assisting citizens from neighboring countries in illegally crossing the state border. They charged up to 500,000 tenge per migrant for their services. During searches, police seized foreign passports, fake documents, electronic storage devices, and communication equipment,” the MIA reported.
A pre-trial investigation has been launched against the organizers under two criminal articles: “Organizing illegal migration” and “Deliberate illegal crossing of the state border.”
