Tengrinews.kz – The possible legalization of marijuana is discussing in Kyrgystan. According to one of the deputies, this will help protect young people from the more terrible "synthetics". Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan Sanzhar Adilov was asked whether such an issue is on the agenda in our country.
As Adilov said in the corridors of the Senate, such an issue is not on the agenda today.
"Today, a decision was made to increase liability for drug manufacturers, as well as to soften the punishment for drug dealers. We are not considering other issues regarding types of drugs, reducing liability or changing them in some summary table. We are studying examples from other countries, an interdepartmental working group is working on the implementation of a comprehensive plan, and many of the issues that you indicated will be studied without fail," the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs commented.
Journalists clarified whether the issue of legalizing soft drugs would be considered within the framework of the comprehensive plan.
"We are studying the experience of international countries, first of all, in bringing to criminal responsibility, in establishing the causes and conditions that contribute to these crimes. And the main task of studying international experience is preventive measures in order to involve more non-governmental organizations, local executive bodies and active public figures in the fight against this evil," answered Adilov.
Earlier, during a session of the Jogorku Kenesh (Supreme Council), Deputy Dastan Bekeshev proposed the legalization of soft drugs in Kyrgyzstan.
It was previously reported that Kazakhstan will establish a unified electronic database to track individuals with mental and behavioral disorders related to psychoactive substance use.
