Tengrinews.kz – First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Akan Rakhmetullin was asked how much the U.S. will pay Kazakhstan for leasing the land where the new consulate in Almaty will be built.
According to the deputy minister, the U.S. will pay $25,301,016 for the lease. The lease term is 49 years.
"And this will be renewed every 49 years unless an additional decision is made. The payment will be made in a lump sum," said Akan Rakhmetullin in the Mazhilis corridors.
He added that the full amount will be transferred within 30 days after the legislative amendments take effect.
Today, Mazhilis deputies ratified the agreement with the U.S. on granting a land plot for the consulate's construction in Almaty. The U.S. will lease 70,593 square meters of land for 49 years.

The Mazhilis began reviewing the bill on ratifying the agreement with the U.S. in January this year. The agreement between the two countries was signed in New York on September 27, 2024.
