Tengrinews.kz – Kazhydromet meteorologists have released the weather forecast for May 17, 18, and 19 in Kazakhstan.
Meteorologists warn: rain, fog, and a sharp drop in temperature ahead
Due to passing atmospheric fronts, rain, thunderstorms, hail, gusty winds, and squalls are expected across Kazakhstan. However, dry weather is forecast on:
- May 17–18 in West Kazakhstan region;
- May 17 in Karaganda, Abai, and East Kazakhstan regions.
Heavy rain and hail possible in the following regions:
- May 17: Mangystau and Kyzylorda regions;
- May 17–18: Aktobe, Kostanay, Akmola, and North Kazakhstan regions;
- May 18: Ulytau and Turkestan regions;
- May 18–19: Pavlodar, Karaganda, Almaty, and Zhetysu regions;
- May 19: West Kazakhstan, East Kazakhstan, Abai, and Zhambyl regions;
Dust storms are expected in the south and southeast, and fog may form in northern and western regions in the morning of May 17–18.
What is happening with the temperatures in Kazakhstan
- In the west of the country: daytime temperatures range from 23°C to 32°C.
- In the northwest: nighttime temperatures are dropping from 7–15°C to 3–10°C, while daytime temperatures are rising from 15–22°C to 18–28°C.
- In the north: nighttime temperatures are falling from 15–20°C to 5–10°C. Daytime temperatures drop from 26–31°C to 10–15°C in the northern parts of the region. Starting May 19, temperatures will rise again to 17–25°C.
- In the center: nighttime temperatures drop from 15–22°C to 5–13°C. On May 17, intense daytime heat is expected, reaching 32–37°C, and in the southern part of the region, up to 40°C. From May 18, a sharp drop to 15–20°C is expected.
- In the east: nighttime temperatures remain at 15–22°C. On May 17–18, extreme daytime heat of 32–37°C is forecasted, with the southern areas reaching up to 40°C. On May 19, a sharp drop to 13–18°C is expected.
- In the south: nighttime temperatures are falling from 18–23°C to 10–15°C. On May 17, severe daytime heat of 35–43°C is expected, with a drop to 20–28°C starting from May 18.
- In the southeast: on May 17, intense heat of 32–37°C is forecasted, with up to 40°C in the southern parts of the region. From May 18, temperatures will decrease to 20–25°C.
