Tengrinews.kz – The heating season in Almaty will begin on October 8, according to the city administration (akimat).
The decision was made due to the sudden drop in temperatures in the city.
“Due to a sharp decline in air temperature in Almaty, and on the instructions of city Akim Darkhan Satybaldy, it was decided to start the heating season earlier than usual. From October 8, central heating will begin in Almaty,” stated the Department of Energy and Water Supply.
Where heating will be turned on first
According to the department, heating will first be supplied to social facilities — including kindergartens, schools, and medical institutions.
“Connection of residential buildings is planned to begin on October 10. After the heat is supplied to the building’s entry point, specialists from building maintenance cooperatives (AOC) and homeowner associations (POA) will adjust the indoor systems — release air from radiators, adjust pressure, and ensure even heating in apartments,” the department added.
The company AHN has already launched a circulation mode, enabling rapid heat delivery to all districts of the city if needed.
“The company has completed preparations for winter. An emergency reserve of materials and equipment has been formed for quick responses. During the 2025–2026 heating season, 16 emergency and repair teams — a total of 220 specialists and 56 units of equipment — will be on duty,” officials reported.
Previously, the department had stated that the start of the heating season would be determined once the average daily outdoor temperature dropped to +8°C or below for five consecutive days.
