Tengrinews.kz - Since the beginning of 2024, 17 attempts to illegally move undeclared currency across the borders of the EAEU have been stopped in Kazakhstan. This was reported by the Financial Monitoring Agency.
At the same time, 15 cases were recorded in Almaty and two in the Mangistau region with the help of service and search dogs.
"The total amount of currency detected was 529 152 dollars and 9 500 euros," the report says.
Also this year, the Financial Monitoring Agency, using dogs, detected 33 cases of illegal movement of narcotics.
"The total weight of the drugs detected was 17 kilograms, of which: marijuana/cannabis - 5.2 kilograms (20 cases); hashish/hashish oil - 11.5 kilograms (11 cases); poppy straw, tetrahydrocannabinol and other types of synthetic drugs," the report says.
The AFM recalled that in 2023, specialists from the Canine Center identified 29 cases of drug transit and 18 attempts to illegally export currency.
Earlier, Financial Monitoring Agency seized counterfeit dollars and euros in Kazakhstan.
