Tengrinews.kz - Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during the extended government meeting, stated that the government is being overly cautious regarding labor migrants.
The Head of State drew attention to the issue of targeted social assistance from the government.
"It has been said many times that this assistance should be provided only to those who truly need it. Kazakhstan is indeed a social state, but this doesn’t mean that we should demotivate citizens, especially the younger generation, from working, and encourage dependency. Hundreds of thousands of labor migrants from neighboring countries are coming to Kazakhstan in search of work, and they deserve respect. The government is being overly cautious in this matter, but there is a need for well-thought-out proposals and solutions," said Tokayev at the extended government meeting.
An extended government meeting is taking place in Astana with the participation of the Head of State. Officials will review the country's socio-economic development results for 2024 and outline key priorities for the near future. Presentations will be given by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, National Bank Chairman Timur Suleimenov, and several regional akims (governors).
