Today Kazakhstan’s Head of Government Karim Massimov has given specific instructions to the Cabinet and regional governors with a view of accomplishing tasks set by President Nazarbayev April 17, Tengrinews.kz reports. Notably, Mr. Massimov instructed the Ministry of Economic Affairs to work out - within a two weeks’ period - targets for growth for each industry so that the nation could join the club of high-income nations within the following 5 years as instructed by President Nazarbayev. Ministry of Communications and Information has to work out within a four weeks’ period a plan to introduce 4G standards. “The task is to ensure 16 Mbit per second in all the oblast centers in Kazakhstan (that is major cities)”, K. Massimov said. Ministry of Transport and Communications has been commissioned with developing suggestions on how to launch direct flights to all major cities of the world that lie within 7 hours of flight. “Without direct flights, it is hard to attract further substantial investments (…) Respective suggestions should be submitted for consideration before October 1”, PM said. Kairat Kelimbetov, Minister of Economic Development and Trade, has been instructed to consider reducing barriers to S&MBs;. “Within a two months’ period, suggestions must be submitted on reduction of the number of licenses and other permits for S&MBs; by 30%”. Before June 30, Foreign Ministry along with Ministry of Labor and Social Protection should submit for the Government’s consideration suggestions on “free migration” for highly professional foreign workforce.
