Global media diabolizes Islam: Nazarbayev Nursultan Nazarbayev

June 8 Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev gave a speech at the opening ceremony of the 7th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF), Tengrinews.kz reports. Nursultan Nazarbayev spoke about the current situation in the Islamic world. “Islam faces difficult political challenges. A majority of global media diabolizes Islam as a threat to national security, cultural and religious principles. The Islamic world is often pictured as a religion welcoming political violence, extremism and terrorism. We should not put up with such situation. Going back in history, one can find that extremism and terrorism were political reality of many industrial communities of the 20th century. We believe that terrorism and extremism, no matter how they position themselves and which religious slogans they cover themselves with, do not have anything in common with any of the great world religions,” Nursultan Nazarbayev said. The Chairman of the World Islamic Economic Forum gave his opening speech as well. Business Astana opened its doors for Islamic world these days. The Forum is attended by representatives of 45 countries, international financial institutions and organizations and outstanding scientists. By Assel Satayeva
