The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has given Kazakhstan $ 18.8 million for HIV and AIDS prevention efforts and support to those already infected, National Centre for AIDS Prevention and Control, the recipient of the grant, announced. The agreement comes into force April 1 and shall be valid to 2013. “The Program will be implemented through consolidated efforts of state and independent organizations for HIV prevention and organizations providing support to HIV infected people”, the National Centre for AIDS Prevention and Control announces. According to the Center, as of March 1, 2011 HIV infected people make up 16.8 thousand people.
