Tengrinews.kz - Minister of Energy Almassadam Satkaliyev has detailed two possible scenarios for the gasification of the northern and eastern regions of Kazakhstan.
One scenario involves the transit of Russian gas, while the other focuses on expanding the country’s internal gas transportation system.
"Talks [with Russia] are progressing well. Kazakhstan is considering two gasification scenarios for its northern and eastern regions. The first involves the Russia–China transit pipeline, which passes through Kazakhstan and could supply up to 10 billion cubic meters of gas to local consumers. However, the final decision on this pipeline largely depends on Russia and China. If approved, Kazakhstan is interested in the project and is ready to provide its territory under agreed conditions," Satkaliyev said at a briefing at the Ministry of Energy.
The second scenario involves constructing the second, third, and fourth phases of the Saryarka pipeline. Preparatory work is already underway, with state-owned company QazaqGaz developing a feasibility study.
"Depending on the outcome of negotiations on the transit pipeline, Kazakhstan will make the necessary decisions," Satkaliyev added.
Previously, the Energy Ministry announced that Kazakhstan and Hungary agreed on oil supplies and joint energy projects.
