Tengrinews.kz - The potential export of Kazakhstani horse meat to the European market was a key topic during a meeting between Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov and French Ambassador to Kazakhstan Sylvain Guichard, according to the ministry's press service.
Earlier in October, during a livestock summit in France, Kazakhstan's "Qaiyp Ata" company and Pegase BVS signed a cooperation agreement to organize horse meat exports. Currently, local farms and agricultural enterprises are showing keen interest in exporting horse meat to France.
Boosting trade volumes between the two countries remains one of the primary goals for the Kazakhstani side.
The two parties also discussed expanding the production capacity of Danone in Kazakhstan.
"Danone's factory produces over 50 types of high-tech dairy products annually, with a total output of 18,000 tons, 40 percent of which is exported to Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Mongolia. The factory exclusively uses milk from Kazakhstani farmers to produce its yogurt," the Ministry of Agriculture stated.
Danone Berkut, the company's factory in Kazakhstan, is located in Baiserke village in the Ili district.
Additionally, the parties reviewed changes in veterinary requirements for the export of small ruminants and the potential for improving Kazakh livestock breeds through artificial insemination using French cattle genetics.
According to the ministry, Kazakhstan’s exports to France have increased nearly sixfold this year, driven by a surge in rapeseed exports.
