Yermek Sagimbayev reported on the main results of the department's work since the beginning of the year and the tasks for the upcoming period. As follows from the report of the Chairman of the National Security Committee:
- National security agencies have thwarted the preparation of 4 terrorist attacks. 84 people have been convicted of involvement in terrorism and extremism, 44 people have been detained;
- 6 Kazakhstanis wanted on suspicion of committing terrorist crimes have been extradited from Syria and Turkey, and 2 of them have been convicted;
- attempts by 824 foreigners involved in terrorism and extremism to enter Kazakhstan have been prevented;
- together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 19 organized criminal groups were neutralized, 60 people were arrested;
- 505 units of firearms, 5 improvised explosive devices, 45 explosive packages and 15,046 rounds of ammunition were seized from illegal circulation;
- 33 drug production laboratories, as well as 35 international and 31 regional drug transportation channels were liquidated;
- 3.2 tons of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, 4.5 tons of poppy straw raw materials, and 18.8 tons of precursors were seized from illegal circulation;
- 162 individuals were convicted of illegal trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances;
- as part of ensuring economic security and combating systemic corruption, damage to the state in the amount of over 1.6 trillion tenge was prevented, and 315 billion tenge was reimbursed to the state budget. 46 individuals were convicted of corruption and related offenses;
- about 55 thousand offenders were detained at the state border, more than 1 300 attempts to transport weapons, ammunition, drugs, and other prohibited items were prevented;
- illegal movement of currency in the amount of 18 billion tenge and goods worth 66 billion tenge across the border was prevented. 20 channels of illegal migration were neutralized;
- over 552 million cyber attacks and 6 thousand DDoS attacks on information systems of government agencies were prevented.
Earlier, the NSC conducted an arrest in Almaty.
