Warning from rescuers

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations urges citizens to observe fire safety rules. Rescuers ask people to be especially careful outdoors, during clean-up days, and when cleaning yards, dachas and garden plots.

Lighting fires and burning garbage are prohibited in dry, hot and windy weather. If weather conditions allow, open flames may be used only in specially designated areas, no closer than 50 meters from buildings and only under supervision.

Barbecues and grills may be used at a distance of at least 10 meters from buildings. Fire-extinguishing equipment must be nearby, such as a fire extinguisher or a container with at least 10 liters of water.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations urges citizens to strictly observe fire safety measures during the fire-hazard period:

  • do not leave fire unattended;
  • do not throw away unextinguished cigarette butts or matches;
  • do not burn dry grass;
  • remove combustible waste in a timely manner;
  • do not allow children to play with fire.

If you notice signs of a fire, immediately call 101 or 112.
