According to the "Turkey News" Telegram channel, the leaders of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan—Ilham Aliyev, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Sadyr Japarov, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Shavkat Mirziyoyev—approved the new flag design.
The flag, featuring an eight-pointed star, a crescent moon, and a sun with evenly radiating rays on a turquoise background, symbolizes shared values, unity, and cultural identity within the Turkic world. The turquoise color, associated with Turkic heritage, reflects peace, prosperity, and the cultural unity of Turkic nations.

Additionally, Report explains that the octagon represents centuries-old Turkic statehood, symbolizing the establishment of the republic, stability, interconnection, and strength derived from the shared Turkic cultural heritage.
"In Turkic and Islamic traditions, the octagon is a symbol of leadership and wisdom. The sun, with its evenly radiating forty straight rays, symbolizes light, openness, and vitality. The rays represent shared values and a common vision that illuminate the path for the Turkic world, guiding it toward a brighter and more prosperous future. The crescent and star, a symbol known throughout the Turkic world, represent Turkic statehood, growth, striving for the future, and progress. These elements reflect the dynamic and forward-looking spirit of the organization, based on the rich shared history of Turkic states," the information states.
The previous flag of the Organization of Turkic States was introduced in 2012.
Recently, the Kazakhstan flag was raised on Wall Street in New York.
