Tengrinews.kz - The heads of the Security Councils of Kazakhstan and Russia met in Astana, according to a statement from Akorda.

Expanded scheduled consultations between the offices of the security councils of Kazakhstan and Russia took place in Astana.

"During the negotiations, chaired by the Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Gizat Nurdauletov, and the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Sergey Shoigu, the parties discussed pressing issues of cooperation. They reviewed the current situation in international and regional security and exchanged views on the necessary measures to strengthen cooperation for ensuring security," Akorda's statement reads.

Consultations between the offices of the security councils are held regularly in accordance with the approved cooperation plan.

On February 12, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Russia's Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional security issues between Kazakhstan and Russia.
