Tengrinews.kz – An exhausted pelican was rescued in the Burabay State National Natural Park, according to burabay_resort.
The bird, unable to migrate for the winter, was discovered on November 15 by Dmitry Fateus, an employee of the forest nursery. He handed the pelican over to forestry inspectors.
The rescued pelican was taken to the Burabay resort’s zoo, where it was examined by a veterinarian. The bird was found to be healthy and without injuries. It turned out to be a chick from the current year, too young for long migrations. Its feathers were not sufficiently developed to withstand a long journey.
The pelican was placed in a winter enclosure for rehabilitation. It will remain under the care of specialists until spring. Once it has gained strength, it will be released back into its natural habitat.
