President’s aide Ermukhamet Ertysbayev does not rule out holding parliamentary elections in summer, Interfax – Kazakhstan reports. “I won’t be speculating on this issue for now (…) everything depends on the Parliament: if they unanimously decide to abnegate powers, allowing the President to proceed with the country’s political modernization, the elections will take place in summer. Consequently, a new government will be formed following the elections”, Mr. Ertysbayev said. He stressed that the current government headed by Prime Minister “has been working well”. April 3 Kazakhstan held presidential elections. According to the Central Elections Commission (CEC), the incumbent President Nazarbayev gained 95.5%, followed by Senator Gani Kassymov (1.9%), communist Zhambyl Akhmetbekov (1.9%) and environmentalist Mels Eleusizov (1.2%).
