Eight Kazakhstan citizens including a newlyweds couple refused to be evacuated from the Thai island of Samui, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Foreign Affairs Ministry press-secretary Ilyas Omarov. Initially there were 27 Kazakhstan citizens on the island, said the press-secretary. Eight people were evacuated on March 30. Five more people took a plane to leave the island and six people used a ferry on March 31 . As per the forecasts a clearing is expected in the coming two-three days, but it is too early to make any statements yet, Omarov said. Earlier Tengrinews.kz reported that five south provinces of Thailand were tagged a natural disaster zone. The flood destroyed roads and blocked the railroads. Country authorities closed the airports. The flood affected popular resort islands – Phuket and Samui. By: Irina Mikhailova
