Dust storms and 27°C heat: What to expect from the weather in Astana and Almaty

Weather in Astana

On April 11, the weather in Astana will remain dry, but there will be a dust storm. Winds will be from the south, gusting up to 18 m/s. At night, temperatures will drop to +13°C, with daytime highs reaching +25°C.

On April 12, expect variable cloud cover and more dust in the air. Winds will shift to the northwest, with gusts possibly reaching 20 m/s. The temperature will stay summer-like, with +12°C at night and up to +25°C during the day.

On April 13, a sharp cold front will arrive. Rain is expected along with another dust storm. Winds will shift again, and temperatures will drop to +5°C at night, with a maximum of +15°C during the day.

Weather in Almaty

In contrast, Almaty will enjoy stable warmth and calm conditions. On April 11, the city will remain dry, with a light southwest wind and temperatures reaching +23°C during the day.

On April 12 and 13, no weather alarms are expected: dry and sunny, with temperatures soaring to +27°C. Winds will remain light, up to 8 m/s.

So, it’s a good idea to keep windbreakers and dust masks handy in Astana, while in Almaty, it’s perfect weather for light shirts and outdoor walks.
