Tengrinews.kz - Road conditions in East Kazakhstan have worsened due to thick fog, particularly on the Samara highway near the Targyn gorge and Tainty. Weather conditions have remained hazardous, with poor visibility making travel dangerous, according to YK-news.kz.
Routes leading to Altai and Ridder have also been affected by the unfavorable weather conditions.
Since October 17, the region has experienced low temperatures, heavy cloud cover, and almost no wind. This has caused dense fog to accumulate in the mountainous areas, severely hindering road visibility. Weather conditions have remained unchanged, leaving the roads dangerous for travel.
As night falls, the situation worsens. The fog becomes even denser along the stretch between Verkhnaya Tainty and the village of Izgutty Aitykov, reducing visibility to just 20-50 meters. The only guide for drivers is the headlights of oncoming vehicles, while road signs and markers remain almost invisible until the last moment, making driving extremely difficult.
A video of the conditions has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with users noting that similar foggy conditions are present on other routes:
- Ust-Kamenogorsk - Ridder,
- Ust-Kamenogorsk - Altai - Ulken,
- Naryn - Katon-Karagai - Rakhmanov springs.
Earlier, it was reported that drivers in seven regions were warned of deteriorating weather conditions. KazAvtoZhol has cautioned drivers about the challenging weather across various parts of the country.
On October 18, rain is expected in the following regions:
- Atyrau
- Mangystau
- West Kazakhstan
- Aktobe
- Kostanay
In the Zhetysu and Abai regions, rain mixed with snow is forecast.
