Tengrinews.kz - Akim (governor) of Almaty, Erbolat Dossaev, answered a question about heat supply tariffs at a meeting with residents of Auezov District.
During an interactive session with the population, the head of the city was asked to justify the high tariffs for hot water and heating.
"The primary source is the energy sources from which heating and hot water are supplied. Our department for regulating natural monopolies very strictly controls these things. But, unfortunately, there is a large proportion of consumers in the city who do not have metering devices. They paid according to the old standards. Therefore, we made a differentiation: those who install metering devices have one tariff, and those who do not have metering devices pay inflated tariffs. Therefore, we wanted to stimulate city residents so that they have metering devices," said Erbolat Dossaev.
He also recalled that there is a subsidy program for socially vulnerable groups of the population.
"Those who need support can contact the district office and receive it. The money is provided in the budget. Everyone else pays according to the market rate, as required, because I believe that the current tariffs are heavily subsidized," Dossaev concluded.
Earlier, a resident of the Nauryzbay district of Almaty contacted the akim with a complaint about a bad smell that remains after garbage trucks.
