Tengrinews.kz – Forecasters have warned Kazakhstanis about dense fog that will cover most of the country on 9 January. A storm warning has been issued for Almaty, Shymkent and 15 regions.

Atyrau region – At night and in the morning in the west, north and south of the region, fog and icy conditions (black ice) are expected. In the west and south of the region, south-easterly wind with gusts of 15–20 meters per second. In Atyrau, fog and icy conditions are expected at night and in the morning.
Pavlodar region – Fog expected in the north and east of the region.
Turkestan region – Fog expected in the west, north, south and mountainous areas of the region. In Turkistan, fog is expected at times.
Karaganda region – Fog expected in the west, north and south of the region. In Karaganda, fog is expected.
Ulytau region – Fog expected in the north, east and central parts of the region. In the north of the region, south-easterly wind with gusts of 15–20 m/s. In Zhezkazgan, fog is expected at times.
Almaty region – Fog expected at times in the south and in the mountainous areas of the region. In Konaev, fog is expected at times.
West Kazakhstan region – Icy conditions (black ice) expected during the day in the west of the region. Fog in the west, north and south of the region. In Oral (Uralsk), fog is expected at night and in the morning.
Abai region – Fog expected in the north, south and central parts of the region.
Aktobe region – Fog expected in the central and southern parts of the region. In the centre and west of the region, south-easterly wind with gusts up to 15 m/s.
Akmola region – Fog expected in the west and south of the region. In the north of the region, south-westerly wind with gusts of 15–20 m/s.
Kostanay region – Fog expected in the north, east and south of the region.
North Kazakhstan region – At night in the north of the region, light snow and drifting snow are expected. Fog in the west of the region. In the south, south-westerly wind with gusts of 15–20 m/s. In Petropavlovsk, light snow and drifting snow are expected at night.
Kyzylorda region – Fog expected in the centre, south and north of the region. In Kyzylorda, fog is expected at times.
Mangystau region – At night and in the morning in the west of the region, icy conditions (black ice) are expected. Fog in the north, south and centre of the region. During the day in the west and centre, south-easterly wind with gusts of 15–20 m/s. In Aktau, south-easterly wind with daytime gusts of 15–20 m/s is expected.
Zhetysu region – At night and in the morning, fog at times in the east, centre and mountainous areas of the region. In the Alakol lakes area, north-easterly wind with gusts of 15–20 m/s.
