Debating Kazakhstan’s future: date of the Kurultai announced

Tengrinews.kz – It has been announced where and when the meeting of the National Kurultai will take place, at which government representatives, public figures and experts will discuss key issues of the country’s development.

The decision was announced by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during a working meeting on parliamentary reform.

“The issue of preparations for the fifth meeting of the National Kurultai in Kyzylorda was considered separately. The President approved 20 January of this year as the date of the Kurultai meeting and gave a number of specific instructions on the organizational and substantive preparation of this important upcoming event,” Akorda reported.

As a reminder, the Head of State decided to establish the National Kurultai in June 2022. The main purpose of this consultative and advisory body under the President is to discuss pressing issues that determine the direction of the country’s development.

The first four meetings of the Kurultai were held in Ulytau, Turkistan, Atyrau and Burabay.

The thematic sections of this large-scale event cover key areas of public life:

• development of civil society;
• culture, art and spirituality;
• education and science;
• socio-economic development.

The key event of each Kurultai is an extensive address by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
