Dangerous weather in Astana: city administration appeals to residents

Tengrinews.kz – The Astana city administration has issued an appeal to residents in connection with deteriorating weather conditions.

In the capital, it rained on 30 December. Due to the worsening weather, municipal services are operating in an enhanced mode. The carriageways, sidewalks and pedestrian areas are being treated with anti-icing materials, with work carried out around the clock.

Residents and guests of the capital are asked to take precautions:

• be careful when moving around the streets, especially when crossing the roadway;
• choose non-slip footwear;
• avoid long trips where possible.

Drivers are advised to take into account reduced visibility and slippery road surfaces, observe the speed limit and safe following distance, and check their vehicles’ technical condition and whether their tyres match the weather conditions.

In case of emergencies, people should contact emergency services by calling 112.
