Dangerous weather in Almaty: urgent warning from the Emergency Situations Department

Tengrinews.kz – The Almaty Department for Emergency Situations has issued an important warning to city residents.

A sharp deterioration in weather conditions is expected in Almaty in the coming days.

“On 16–17 January, icy conditions are expected on the roads of Almaty. Fog, precipitation and a temperature drop are expected in the mountains and in the city. It is strongly recommended to refrain from going into the mountains,” the statement says.

Residents are also asked to observe fire safety rules:

• monitor the tightness of chimneys to prevent carbon monoxide from combustion products entering living premises;
• do not overload electrical networks.

It should be recalled that earlier the Almaty akimat reported that, due to the forecast snowfalls and drop in air temperature, the city’s public utilities have been switched to an enhanced work regime.
