Tengrinews.kz - The Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture commented on the information that deadly listeria was found in chicken meat supplied from Kazakhstan to Russia.
According to the committee, on January 29, Rosselkhoznadzor announced the introduction of enhanced laboratory control over products from Makinsk Poultry Farm due to the detection of listeria.
Under this regime, goods can move within the EAEU, but each batch must undergo mandatory inspection.
"At the moment, the committee has not received information from Rosselkhoznadzor with confirming results of laboratory tests. According to the EAEU Regulation No. 94, authorized bodies are required to inform all interested parties of identified violations within 10 working days. To clarify the reasons for this situation, the Akmola regional territorial inspection of the Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision will conduct an inspection of the enterprise and take product samples for laboratory testing," the statement said.
Earlier, Rosselkhoznadzor reported that as a result of testing a sample from a batch of chilled broiler chicken fillet, listeria was detected in poultry from the Kazakh producer Makinsk Poultry Farm. The agency introduced enhanced laboratory control over the producer.
Listeria is a bacterium that causes the infectious disease listeriosis and can affect the central nervous system and reproductive organs. It is particularly dangerous for pregnant women, newborns, the elderly, cancer patients, and individuals with weakened immune systems. The incubation period lasts up to 90 days. The primary route of infection is through food.
