Tengrinews.kz – Authorities in Kazakhstan have initiated the process of blocking the popular dating chatbot “Daivinchik,” which operates on Telegram and VKontakte, according to the Almaty Prosecutor’s Office.
Prosecutors in the Alatau district of Almaty discovered the Telegram channel “Daivinchik Dating,” which operates without age restrictions and poses a threat to the safety of minors.
“The Prosecutor’s Office has filed a lawsuit seeking to recognize the operation of this resource as illegal and to ban its activity on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” the statement said.
“Daivinchik” is a popular dating project that began several years ago as a public page on VKontakte. Later, a Telegram bot was launched based on it, which now has over 17 million subscribers. The service quickly became one of the largest informal communication platforms among teenagers, students, and young people active on social networks and messaging apps.
A significant portion of its audience consists of underage users. The bot functions as an alternative to traditional dating apps and websites, offering simple interaction mechanics and anonymity. However, the project does not require user verification, which creates risks of fake accounts and fraud.
Criminal case
The district prosecutor’s office is also investigating a criminal case related to the use of similar online platforms. A case has been submitted to court involving illegal actions against a minor.
Investigators established that in April 2025, a girl registered on a dating site and later met a person who committed unlawful acts against her.
Global context
The issue of children’s online safety remains a global concern. Previously, Tengrinews.kz reported that various online platforms, including the popular game Roblox, have increasingly been at the center of scandals and legal cases. Under the guise of players, predators can build trust with children and move communication into private chats, leading to dangerous situations.
