Cyclone to bring sharp cold snap and rain to Kazakhstan

Tengrinews.kz - Kazhydromet forecasters have issued a weather outlook for August 28, 29 and 30.

Cyclone to bring unstable weather

At the start of the period, much of Kazakhstan will see dry weather under the influence of an anticyclone. However, on August 29, a northwestern cyclone trough will bring unstable conditions to northern, eastern, and central regions of the country. By August 30, the unsettled weather will also spread to the southeast.

“Rain with thunderstorms is expected. On August 30, heavy rain with hail and squally winds is forecast in northern, eastern, and central regions. Strengthening winds are expected across the country, while fog will form overnight and in the morning in the west, north and northwest,” Kazhydromet said.

What about temperatures?

In the west, air temperatures will range from +20 to +31 °C, while in the southwest they will reach +27 to +35 °C. A significant drop in temperatures is forecast elsewhere:

Northwest: from +23…+33 °C down to +15…+23 °C;
North: from +30…+35 °C down to +15…+23 °C;
Central regions: from +30…+37 °C down to +18…+27 °C;
East: from +22…+32 °C down to +17…+28 °C;
South: from +30…+41 °C down to +26…+35 °C.

In the southeast, intense heat will persist at +33…+38 °C, while in mountain areas temperatures will be between +23 and +28 °C.
