CSTO member states signed key documents at Astana summit

Tengrinews.kz - In Astana, the presidents of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states signed several documents following the Collective Security Council meeting, according to a statement from Akorda.

The heads of state adopted the Declaration of the Collective Security Council and approved a series of documents during the session.

Among the agreements was the adoption of the CSTO Targeted Interstate Program aimed at strengthening the Tajik-Afghan border.

"The presidents also issued a statement commemorating the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (1941–1945) and approved a plan of events to celebrate this milestone in 2025. The documents signed in Astana are focused on advancing the organization and its collective security system for the benefit of all member states," Akorda stated.

It was also noted that from January 1, 2025, Kyrgyzstan will assume the chairmanship of the CSTO.

Previously, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted the importance of the CSTO as a key structure for ensuring peace and stability across Eurasia. During its chairmanship, Kazakhstan prioritized strengthening cooperation among member states and enhancing mechanisms for effective crisis response.
