Tengrinews.kz - The Kazakh government plans to revise the cost of military rations, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov announced.
According to him, the issues of increasing the cost of food rations and improving the calculation methodology are being reviewed by a working group under the Ministry of Defense. The group includes representatives from relevant government bodies and organizations.
The Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Emergency Situations, National Security Committee, State Security Service, and the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs are all involved.
“As part of its work, the group is recalculating the cost of rations taking into account changes in statistical data for 2023–2024, and is developing unified approaches to revising the calculation, including a possible transition to self-sufficiency,” the Prime Minister said in a written response to a parliamentary inquiry.
In addition, the group is working on a mechanism to ensure regular adjustments to ration costs based on inflation and price increases, as well as measures to improve oversight of food provision through public organizations.
Previously, President Tokayev signed a decree on conscription for mandatory military service.
