Cold is coming to Kazakhstan: first frosty nights expected in Almaty

Tengrinews.kz – Cold weather is approaching Kazakhstan. Kazhydromet has issued a warning: the night of October 6 will bring frost, and the daytime will be windy in several regions of the country.

In Almaty Region, especially in Almaty and Konayev, frosts down to –2°C on the ground surface are expected. Some areas in the mountains may experience fog. A storm warning has been issued for the region.

In Zhetysu, night temperatures may drop to –5°C, and in Taldykorgan, down to –7°C. In the Alakol area, winds up to 20 m/s are forecast. A storm warning is in effect.

In Zhambyl Region, fog and frosts down to –3°C are expected at night, and around –2°C in Taraz. In the mountains, winds may reach 25 m/s. A storm warning has been issued.

In Atyrau, Mangystau, and West Kazakhstan regions, gusts up to 20 m/s are expected.
Storm warnings have been issued in these areas as well.

In the North Kazakhstan Region, morning fog and chilly weather are forecast. A storm warning is in place for the region.

A cold front is moving from the east and central parts of the country. In the coming days, night temperatures may fall below zero in many regions.

Meteorologists advise drivers to be cautious on the roads and residents to hold off on packing away warm clothing.

When will heating start in Almaty

According to the Department of Energy and Water Supply of Almaty, the heating season will begin when the average daily temperature stays at or below +8°C for five consecutive days.

Heating will be connected in stages:

• First: Kindergartens, schools, hospitals, and social facilities;
• Then: Residential buildings, dormitories, and hotels;
• Lastly: Administrative buildings, universities, theaters, and other organizations.
